The FreeCAD Project Association has approved three grants for Q2 2026. João Matos will receive EUR 4,000 to develop BIM Plan Edit, a focused 2D editing context for working with walls, openings, spaces, and symbols on a selected building storey.
Krish Sharma will improve the Measure tool with per-element snap modes and a hover preview showing the point that will be used. Caio Venâncio do Rosário will implement a parametric thread feature using Open CASCADE Technology to detect cylindrical and conical faces and create internal or external threads, with cosmetic and modelled representations.
The three projects account for EUR 7,750 of FreeCAD’s EUR 10,000 quarterly grant budget, with payment due after completion. All three recipients have previously contributed to FreeCAD.
